In the book of the yesterdays of our lives there have been questions and concerns, uncertainties, fears, sadness, and
even grief. There is also jubilation recorded there because “its all over” and it “went well,” our concerns were
“unfounded,” courage has “conquered fear,” and sadness and grief have been comforted. Thank You God, Jesus, and Holy
Spirit for Your very real answers to the desperate hopes and prayers of our lives. We trust You so much. The history
book of our trust in Your faithfulness is growing longer, thicker, wider and higher.
This is the season of Lent, leading to Jesus’s denial, suffering, death and the joy of His resurrection; conquering death once for all who believe. Talk about concern! Jesus’s body shed drops of blood even before His beatings, as He prayed in Gethsemane. And despair!
Despair was registered in the simple drawing above and the carving below found outside the famous, unfinished Gaudi Basilica in Barcelona. And joy! The end (or is it the beginning?) of the Story of stories is joy, jubilation!
I’m thinking that each day on our little planet in our tiny worlds we face small vignettes of this powerful scene, imploring us to look to the happy ending, the Source of joy, jubilation, and the Truth. (Yes, Pontius Pilate, Truth is the Man who carried our cross.) Thank You Holy Trinity for caring for each one of us so much Jesus died to prove Your love. We stand in awe of You, with deep gratitude. Amen.
